Eye exams are an important part of overall personal health, for those with or without vision correction. We provide a comprehensive eye exam that will screen for ocular heath problems as well as check for visual deficits. A contact lens exam includes a basic eye exam and a contact lens fitting. During the fitting we try different lenses in order to find the best material and optimal vision. Dr. Winner specializes in these fittings and we are confident we can find something that works for you.
For those people the require distance and near correction there are some great new lenses on the market that may satisfy that need. Everyone is different, and a thorough contact lens exam is the only way to determine the best choice. Not everyone can wear contact lenses, but the biggest limitation is usually the individual’s motivation to wear them.

There is an art to making a custom pair of eyeglasses, it is a craft that is quickly being lost today. No two eyes are the same. At Visual Eyes we take into account all aspects required to make each individual an optimal pair of glasses.
Frame selection is just as important as the prescription being put into it. If you do not like the way it looks or if it does not fit properly then you are less likely to wear them. We really enjoy helping our customers choose the best frame for their needs.
Lens selection is also important in making a great pair of glasses. Glasses are rarely made with glass anymore. Generally we use plastic, poly-carbonate and high index lenses. There are also many additional options for glasses such as anti-reflective coatings, transition lenses, and scratch protection.

UV protection is a very important part of keeping your eyes healthy. You want to make sure to protect your eyes from the suns harmful rays. At Visual Eyes, we offer a wide variety of sunglasses. Most of the sunglasses in our store can have prescription lenses put into them. We always recommend polarized lenses to ensure that you have the best protection.

How often should you have an eye exam?
Vision is one of the most important senses so it is important to have routine eye exams. It is recommended to have an eye exam once a year, especially if you have a family history of ocular health problems. In Georgia, a contact lens exam is required every year and an eyeglass exam is required every other year.
What to expect during an eye exam?
During your eye exam, Dr. Winner will check for: glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. There are several eye conditions with the potential for severe visual disability, or even blindness, that have no symptoms. Even patients who feel that they see fine may be suffering from an eye health problem without any symptoms.

Heart of a teacher!
I found Dr. Winner to be both knowledgeable and pleasant. We talked about my family history (my brother has had a considerable number of eye problems) and Dr. Winner explained that his specific problems were probably more a result of where he lives (in the hot sun of Arizona) than heredity. I believe that Dr. Winner‘s examination of my eyes was thorough. He found that I did need a change of my prescription. I chose new frames from the many on display. I did not feel pressured to purchase any of the frames. Following my examination, my new glasses were ready for pickup in four days. I found the cost of both the examination and my new glasses to be very reasonable.
